West Cork Property in Autumn

In the Autumn, the West Cork Property scene continues to remain busy. This is perhaps not the case in the larger settlements such as Dublin, where the Springtime focus remains the regular pattern.

Autumn and early summer are traditionally the busy times for property sales in the West Cork area. The reasons why people buy houses around here are fundamentally different from those that compel the purchasers to purchase in the Big Smoke. Everyone likes to be ahead of the game and, as the summer time is universally perceived to be the busy time for business in this neck of the woods, the serious buyer tends to wait in the grass that has grown long over the summer and make his move “just when they’re not expecting it”, to quote the inimitable secret agent Maxwell Smart.

This leads to a bit of a flurry of activity in the months of August and (even more so) September, just as the number of people milling about the place is taking a tumble.

For the auctioneer, this is a nice time of year. We’re getting more money for less activity – a situation to which everyone aspires, I would say. The heartbreak of the ending of summer and all that goes with that is thus alleviated by the regular trends of the West Cork property scene.
