West Cork Property and YouTube

Just what has West Cork Property got to do with YouTube, you may ask?

It’s hard to believe that YouTube has only been with us on this planet for just 2 years, such has been its influence on cyberspace and the world in general.

To say that it’s a revolutionary concept is an understatement: it is, and will continue to be a completely new way of looking at television, communicating with one another and researching.

For example, if you’re going somewhere on holiday – say to Tenerife – you can type in the searchword Tenerife and you will find a whole host of home-grown and professional videos on Tenerife, giving you an insight that wasn’t quite possible in pre-YouTube times. If you’re thinking you’d love to see your favourite scene from some film you loved, or some great televised sporting moment it’s normally just a case of typing in the word and you’ll find that someone out there has uploaded it YouTube for your viewing and re-viewing convenience.

In America – the land where all these magical things come from – auctioneers have been using YouTube to promote property sales. So far, it hasn’t exactly caught on in Ireland. Until now, that is…

Harrington Estates have been using YouTube by embedding promotional videos into some online brochures in order to give a better idea of the property. This concept caught the attention of the Irish arm of the British newspaper Sunday Times recently, when they did a full 2-page spread on the whole idea.

Just click on the link below and you’ll get an idea of this concept in action from this American tv report.

Of course, the only slight snag in all of this is that you really do need broadband in order to enjoy it properly. But, broadband penetration is rolling out all over Ireland. Technically, there’s nowhere that can’t have broadband and it will soon be available all over the country.

So, until then, here’s another example of YouTube-ing West Cork Property…
