Dining Around Bantry

West Cork is well known and established by this stage as a culinary corner of note in Ireland.

Bantry itself now boasts a broad range of eating venues to suit any number of palates and preferences. There’s a fine Chinese restaurant and takeaway on High Street, an Indian restaurant on Barrack Street, an Indian takeaway on Wolfe Tone Square, De Barra’s on New Street and an excellent vegetarian Organico on Glengarriff Road, to name but a few.

Before all of them arrived in town, however, Bantry had fine seafood restaurant to rival any other in a coastal town. That restaurant has become a veritable Bantry institution over its many years in service. Initially starting as a bar and grill in 1914, it began to forge a reputation as an all-out seafood restaurant in the 1960’s. Having undergone recent renovations that have further enhanced its appeal and ambience, O’Connor’s Seafood Restaurant is continuing the same tradition of excellence and quality, keeping pace with ever-increasing standards.
