At Glengarriff Golf Club with a Bantry Estate Agent
An estate agent in Bantry – or anywhere else in the world – needs to unwind just like the rest of us and the Glengarriff Golf Club is a very good place to do it.
Nestled in the woodlands overlooking Glengarriff Harbour and Garinish Island is this jewel of a nine-hole golfing treat. This par-33 course, with stunning countryside & coastal views, provides a tasty challenge to enthusiasts of all ability.
Glengarriff Golf Club is 2km to the East of the village and is situated between the estate of Glengarriff Castle Hotel and the grounds of the former Roche’s (Great Southern) Hotel.
Green fees and membership are very favourably by comparison, and club time and tuition are available. Glengarriff property, which is keenly sought at all times is especially so when in close proximity to Glengarriff Golf.
At present (April 2006), full family membership for the 2006 season is €470, plus a similar figure as a once-off joining levy. Trust me – this represents sound investment as the likelihood of curtailing new membership in the near future is a possibility.
When the good weather arrives and settles, the evening scrambles are normally very well supported, so you should telephone in advance, and one of the ladies such as Cathy or Sheila will book you in!
The highlight of Glengarriff Golf Club year is the GENERAL CHARLES BLAIR & MAUREEN O’HARA TOURNAMENT. This 10-day golf event features a number of open team classics & individual events. My own favourite event is the “Johnny Barry Mixed Foursome Competition”, dedicated to one of Glengarriff’s greatest golfers and ambassadors. Our flagship tournament is known affectionately as “The Maureen O’Hara“. Although the full title rightly bears the name of her late husband, as club members, we are honoured that Maureen herself lives discreetly in the parish and is actively our honorary Lady President for over the last twenty years. Glengarriff Golf Club will never be able to repay the support and goodwill that this magnificent lady has extended to us. Maureen’s strongest wish for all those that enjoy the beauty of Glengarriff Golf Club is to appreciate its beauty and endeavour to benefit the community as a whole. Glengarriff Golf club can be enjoyed and utilised by everyone but please keep it beautiful.
